On first furlough day, San Jose State U. students organize 'WTF? Rally' to protest cuts September 24th

Classes at San Jose State University may have been canceled on Tuesday, but up to 300 students and faculty showed up to school anyway to protest the reason behind those cancellations. The group organized the "WTF? Rally" — which according to the organization's flyer could stand for many phrases related to the budget cuts such as "Where's the funding?" and "Why the furlough?" — against the California State University budget cuts on SJSU's first campus-wide furlough day.

Enrollment reductions plan at San Jose State U. sends some students to community college September 10th

The first wave of budget cuts eliminated 3,000 San Jose State University students who tried to enroll for fall 2009, said an SJSU official. Some prospective students who thought they had been accepted and made living arrangements at SJSU have been forced to attend community colleges instead.
